Biologic Treatments

There are a number of allergic conditions, such as asthma, food allergy, chronic hives, eczema, nasal polyps, and eosinophilic esophagitis, that can be difficult to treat with first-line, standard therapies. The development of biologic therapies (antibodies that bind to specific immune targets and block type 2/allergic inflammation) has revolutionized how we treat and manage such conditions. We routinely use a variety of biologics in our clinic including Xolair, Fasenra, Dupixent, Tezspire, Nucala, and Exdensur. These all have different indications and dosing regimens but often lead to dramatically improved control of the specific allergic condition. Most of these biologics are approved for both pediatric and adult patients and are very safe and effective treatments.
